Eye in the Sky: Police Helicopter Helps Arrest an Armed Bank Robbery Suspect

Police District of Reston Once the bank robbery suspect escaped into Maryland, Fairfax One assisted in getting him apprehended very quickly, and our officers responded admirably.

Officers responded to an armed bank robbery at Wells Fargo Bank, located at 750 Walker Road in Great Falls, yesterday at 10:59 a.m. After breaking into the bank, the suspect brandished a gun and made a cash demand. Before the police arrived, the suspect stole money and drove off.

Authorities started scouring the surrounding districts right away. When a gray Acura passed a red light close to I-495 at a high pace, the witness alerted the authorities. Before Fairfax One was complete, another cop saw the Acura and gave an updated location.

Fairfax One pointed Montgomery County police officers in the direction of the offender, enabling them to apprehend him without incident. Evidence of the heist was discovered inside the car, leading to the arrest of Michael Allen Reid, 61, of Maryland.

After being taken to the Montgomery County Jail, he was detained there until he could be extradited to Fairfax County to face charges of bank robbery.
