Detectives Seek Community's Help to Identify Suspects in Woodlawn and Sacramento Shopping Center Burglaries

Our Criminal Investigations Division detectives assigned to the Mount Vernon Police District are looking into a number of burglaries that have occurred in the Woodlawn and Sacramento Shopping Centers.

Officers responded to a burglary report at 8754 Richmond Highway in Woodlawn on Tuesday at approximately 10:30 a.m. When staff members got there, they discovered that the company had been broken into over night. Around 4:40 a.m., surveillance footage showed an unidentified person forcing his way inside the establishment by using a tool to bust through the front entrance. Unspecified sums of money were taken.

Detectives conducting a thorough search of the shopping area came upon a different company at 8740 Richmond Highway that had a broken window in the back of the building. Detectives discovered that the suspect had been unable to enter the establishment after doing a tour.

At the Woodlawn and Sacramento Shopping Centers, there have been five reported burglaries and one attempted burglary since December 30.

The following photos from earlier burglaries—which detectives suspect may not be directly related but happened in the same shopping centers—have been made public.
